How to Care for Different Types of Fabrics

Fabrics are meant to be cleaned in a certain way and the usual technique of cleaning are twisting , wrangling and using heat , which do more harm than good to the fabric

Below listed are different ways to treat each kind of fabric
1. Cotton
Cotton is the most loved fabric around the world because of its comfort and versatility. It is widely used in every silhouette from a Basic T-shirt to designer gown.
Cotton fabric has to be processed thoroughly before using it for garments, as it reduces the chance of shrinkage of the garment to almost Nil.
You need to always read the ‘Wash care label’ to know the exact ways of washing your garments. Below listed are some of the best ways to wash cotton garments :

1. Wash it in cold water or mild warm water to avoid shrinkage
2. Add bleaching agent to remove stain only if the wash care label permits.
3. Iron it on medium heat

2. Linen
Linen is a natural fiber that is made from the flax plant. It is widely used in men’s and women’s garment . Linen is very strong and absorbent and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear in hot weather and is valued for use in garments.
Below listed are the best ways to wash Linen Fabric / garment :
1. Linen has to be washed with cold water
2. It should be naturally dried or air dried.
Linen is known to absorb more water during the washing process compared to other fibres so so you should guard against overcrowding in the washer and the dryer.

Please see the wash care instructions for more detailed care.

3. Polyester

Polyester is a generalized term for any fabric or textile, which is made using polyester yarns or fibers. It is a shortened name for a synthetic, man-made polymer, which, as a specific material, is most commonly referred to as a type called polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It is made by mixing ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. That all sounds extremely scientific, but basically, polyester is a kind of plastic.

Polyester is a man made fabric . It another name for synthetic, man made polymer. Polyester is a kind of plastic. It is cheaper in comparison to natural fabrics like Cotton & lined . This fabric is commonly used by fast fashion brands.
